About Me
About Mike

I've been exercising regularly for about 30 years.  I played high school sports, served in the military and
served the Austin community as a personal trainer for the past eight years.  I have been active my entire life.
I live for the challenge that physical fitness demands of the human body.  More than that I love the mental
demand that physical fitness requires.  I exercise regularly and practice what I preach.  I also teach muscle
conditioning and abdominal classes throughout the week which helps keep me on my toes. I love to run but
do not wish to have a "runners" body, so I keep the mileage low.  I have
had my share of injuries, mostly from
running and heavy lifting, but
have learned how to not aggravate them.  I change up my workouts regularly to
keep my mind and body stimulated.

I take personal training serious but not drill instructor serious.  By the time I walk into the gym I  have already
visualized
"your" workout routine.  I'm a challenging trainer but safety is FIRST!  My goal is to teach you how
to exercise properly to reduce the risk of injury, while working towards your goal.

I'm
training clients at Cimarron Hills (Georgetown) and Fitness 19 (Cedar Park).  If you live/work in NW Austin
I'm also offering training at my apartment complex fitness center as well. Its a decent apartment gym and no
cost to you.

My training philosophy is simple, "
Train like you want it!"  What you put into weight loss is exactly what you
will get out of it.
I like to integrate traditional style weightlifting with functional style exercises.  Adding
variation to the workout program will keep you and I stimulated and create better results!  We will use a
combination of fixed machines, free weights and stability equipment to enhance your performance.
 My
advice to you as it pertains to fitness is "think outside the box."  Don't stick to the past routines of the 80's and
90's, stimulate your mind and challenge your body.

I have clients that have been training with me for the past eight years.  I view each day and each client as a learning experience and as an
opportunity for growth.

I take my own workouts serious and never miss.  For a trainer if we don't take our own workouts serious we can't expect you, the client or
potential client, to do the same.

My specialty is strength and conditioning followed by weight loss.  My self defense certification is from the Austin Martial Arts Academy.  My
instructor was certified by
Tony Blauer.  This type of training is as close to the real thing as it gets.  Male or female, if you have not taken a self
defense class, you should.  Everyone needs to know at least a fraction of how to defend themselves.

I have three beautiful kids and understand how your time may not be your own.  Some days it can be quite a challenge getting to the gym.  I
can be  flexible with scheduling and ask that you do the same, especially
during summer.

My
hope is that my kids will follow my example and form a fitness lifestyle of their own.  I really enjoy working out with my kids, we have a great
time.

My plans for the future include owning my own fitness center, martial arts studio and a fitness camp for kids.  I also believe that we don't have
enough education on fitness so I plan to write a series of books.
